What do I need to do so I can vote?

Anyone 16 or over will be able to vote in the local government elections this year for the first time, after Senedd Members voted in 2020 to change the rules in Wales.

In order to vote, you have to make sure you are on the electoral register held by the local authority where you live.

Just about everyone who lives in Wales – wherever you were born - can register to vote. This includes anyone from other countries around the world who have permission to live here.
